The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Data Engineer This position can be remote based within the U.S.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible opportunity, with current funding is through 6/30/2027.

We are seeking a Data Engineer to develop and maintain the data platform supporting our Donor and Company Prospecting Tool. This role involves designing and building data pipelines that consolidate information from SQL databases, third-party APIs, and various internal sources. While the long-term roadmap includes integration with platforms such as Salesforce and Azure, the initial focus will be on creating a robust, scalable infrastructure that underpins our prospecting and lead qualification efforts.

Expected pay range will be $100,000 - $110,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.

Responsibilities
  • Data Platform Development:
    • Architect and implement a scalable data platform tailored for our prospecting tool.
    • Build and maintain efficient ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest data from SQL databases, third-party APIs, and additional data sources.
  • Data Integration and Maintenance:
    • Ensure data from multiple sources is consolidated in a coherent data model that supports accurate lead generation and qualification.
    • Prepare the platform for future integrations with Salesforce and Azure by establishing modular and adaptable data processes.
  • Collaboration and Innovation:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams including data analysts, product managers, and sales/marketing stakeholders to meet evolving business requirements.
    • Leverage best practices in data management to streamline data flow and ensure high data quality.
  • Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Implement monitoring and logging for data pipelines to ensure system reliability and quick troubleshooting of issues.
    • Optimize data processing for performance improvements as data volume increases.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with a focus on building scalable data platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience in developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience working with data from third-party APIs and integrating disparate data sources.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline and orchestration tools
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in sales automation, lead generation, or lead qualification environments.
  • Understanding how to build APIs for eventual ML/AI product features (long term)
  • Exposure to cloud environments and data warehousing solutions, with an interest in future integration with tools such as Alteryx and Salesforce.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, innovative approach to tackling data challenges.
Compensation & Benefits
