The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks, including vulnerability reporting, incident response, and compliance activities. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, with the expectation of reliability and accountability in a remote work environment. The role demands a detail-oriented individual who can work both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision. If you are passionate about cybersecurity and have a proactive approach to threat detection and mitigation, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly vulnerability reports and prepare PowerPoint slides for leadership, highlighting any anomalies detected in IPS logs and submitting requests for IP block actions against nefarious activities.
  • Utilize available tools efficiently to respond promptly to leadership inquiries regarding the security of assets.
  • Handle Cyber Task Orders (CTOs) by identifying known vulnerabilities (CVEs) and providing evidence of exposure as requested by higher authorities.
  • Support incident response duties, taking prudent action upon requests from higher authorities and investigating log events within SIEM systems such as ELK.
  • Manage compliance of application logging across over 200 internally developed applications, ensuring adherence to security standards.
  • Provide Information Assurance support to systems and users, ensuring compliance with military regulations, procedures, and policies under the guidance of the Information Security System Manager (ISSM).
  • Assist with the documentation, review, and modification of local Information Assurance (IA) related policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Review security configurations, audit logs, and patch status of government systems, performing cyber security and FISMA Compliance relevant system monitoring.

Qualifications:

  • Proven understanding of vulnerabilities and risk management techniques.
  • Experience in running vulnerability scans using tools like Nessus or similar.
  • Proficiency in using SIEM tools, with a preference for experience with ELK.
  • Familiarity with Tenable ACAS or similar vulnerability reporting tools.
  • Willingness to learn AESS McAfee tools such as ePolicy Orchestrator and TYCHON.
  • Ability to work as a team player, with limited supervision in a remote work environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, able to engage with the team effectively.
  • Security+ certification is required; Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or CYSA+ Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Currently active Secret security clearance.
