Job summary

UGI Corporation, a leader in energy distribution and services, seeks an experienced corporate attorney to provide counsel on safety, regulatory settlements, operations, investigations, and contract review. You will support real estate matters and advise on risk management within a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a Juris Doctor and 12+ years of corporate legal experience, preferably with energy matters, and admission to a state bar (PA preferred).

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree required and PA bar in good standing.
  • 12+ years corporate legal experience.
  • Experience with energy matters preferred.
  • Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, drafts, and negotiates commercial contracts and agreements, including vendor contracts, customer agreements, and general business arrangements.
  • Responds to legal inquiries from field operations, offering timely counsel on day-to-day legal issues, operational concerns, and risk management strategies to support business objectives.
  • Provides legal advice and guidance on safety compliance matters, regulatory settlements, and Attorney General investigations, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations while minimizing risk.
  • Manages legal matters related to incidents and claims, coordinating responses and strategies with outside counsel as needed.
  • Provides legal support for real estate transactions and property matters, reviewing and negotiating purchase agreements and easements.
  • Interprets changes in laws affecting the propane industry, advising internal stakeholders on compliance obligations and business impacts.

Job Summary

Provide advice and counsel on AmeriGas legal matters related to safety, regulatory settlements, operations, incidents, Attorney General investigations, contract review, general commercial questions and litigation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews, drafts, and negotiates commercial contracts and agreements, including vendor contracts, customer agreements, and general business arrangements.
  • Responds to legal inquiries from field operations, offering timely counsel on day-to-day legal issues, operational concerns, and risk management strategies to support business objectives.
  • Provides legal advice and guidance on safety compliance matters, regulatory settlements, and Attorney General investigations, ensuring the company maintains adherence to applicable laws and regulations while minimizing legal risk and liability.
  • Manages legal matters related to incidents and claims, including coordinating responses, conducting legal analysis, liaising with outside counsel when necessary, and developing strategies to resolve disputes efficiently.
  • Provides legal support for real estate transactions and property matters, including reviewing and negotiating purchase agreements, easements, and other real estate-related contracts to facilitate business operations.
  • Interprets changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the propane industry, providing proactive guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance obligations and potential business impacts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional analytical skills, integrity, and judgment regarding both legal and business issues.
  • Excellent negotiating, drafting, issue spotting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support senior management and operations personnel, and ability to effectively collaborate with others.
  • Detail-orientation and ability to manage multiple contracts and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and high-output environment.
  • Strong work ethic, personal accountability and initiative.
Education and Experience

Juris Doctor Law

12+ years corporate legal experience

Member of a state bar (preferably Pennsylvania) in good standing.

Specific experience with energy matters preferred
