Job summary

Medial Group in Villalba, PR is seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Specialist to support manufacturing cost accounting, budgeting, and profitability analysis. You will improve costing processes, allocate costs, and provide reporting to drive pricing decisions.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting with 7+ years of cost accounting experience, strong Excel, and ERP/Power BI skills. This 100% on-site position requires excellent analytical and communication abilities.

Job description

Support the company's cost accounting activities within a manufacturing environment, including cost allocation, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, profitability analysis, and cost accounting system improvements. This role requires strong analytical skills, manufacturing industry knowledge, and practical project management experience.

Responsibilities

Allocate costs, collect financial and operational data, and prepare reports to maintain the company's cost accounting system.

Ensure costs are allocated according to established accounting procedures.

Gather and analyze historical cost data, including material purchases, labor, equipment depreciation, repairs, assembly costs, and operating expenses.

Investigate and analyze cost structures for new and existing areas of the organization.

Develop unit costs and projected expenses to support the pricing of new products or services.

Prepare and analyze reports comparing budgets with actual expenses.

Perform variance and profitability analyses and provide recommendations based on findings.

Recommend, design, and support improvements to cost accounting systems, processes, and reporting.

Support the development and implementation of accounting instructions and procedures.

Perform in-depth analysis of complex financial and operational issues and recommend process improvements.

Manage assigned projects and processes from planning through implementation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve financial and project objectives.

Communicate financial information, project status, issues, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Provide guidance, coaching, or training to other team members when required.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Strong cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment .

Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and practical project management experience .

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel .

Experience with SAP or other ERP systems .

Experience with Power BI and financial reporting.

Strong knowledge of cost allocation, variance analysis, budgeting, and profitability analysis.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work 100% on-site in Villalba, Puerto Rico .

Preferred Qualifications

Previous cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.

Experience developing or improving accounting procedures, reporting processes, and cost accounting systems.

Experience managing projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
