Job summary

Artivion, Inc. is a medical device company based near Atlanta, GA, seeking a Sr. Cost Accountant to prepare cost models and support inventory, gross margins, and ROI analyses for domestic manufactured products and tissues.

The role requires 3+ years in costing or related accounting, a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, and strong Excel/SAP experience. Occasional overtime for quarterly closes is expected as part of a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3 years public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred) or 3 years costing experience, or 5 years industry accounting experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience with large accounting systems (SAP a plus).
• Understanding of US GAAP and ability to apply it.

Responsibilities

• Prepare domestic cost models and standard costing for products and processed tissues.
• Prepare cost models monthly and update inputs for accuracy.
• Support budgeting and variance analyses, including cost of goods and inventory.
• Assist in internal controls over cost accounting and SEC filing procedures.
• Perform periodic reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet analyses.

Sr. Cost AccountantHeadquartered in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, Artivion, Inc. is a medical device company focused on developing simple, elegant solutions that address cardiac and vascular surgeons' most difficult challenges in treating patients with aortic diseases. Artivion has over 1,400 employees worldwide with sales representation in over 100 countries. The Company has manufacturing facilities located in Atlanta, Georgia, Austin, Texas and Hechingen, Germany. Additionally, it has sales and distribution offices in various countries throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. Accurately and timely preparation of cost models and/or standard costing for domestic manufactured products and processed tissues. Ensure accuracy of inventory and deferred preservation costs (tissues) on the balance sheet and cost of products and preservation services on the income statement. Includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing descriptive or supporting schedules, and working on special projects as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the domestic models and/or standard costing that calculate the cost of products and processed tissues, including:
• Prepare cost models on a monthly basis
• Update cost models periodically to ensure costing accuracy
• Routinely review inputs into costing models
• Analyses support, investigation, and/or preparation including: Costs, inventory, and gross margins
• New product development and costing information for ROI calculations
• Obsolescence and scrap trending
• Budgeting, including:
• Prepare/support the cost of products and preservation services budgeting
• Support budget to actual analyses, including discussing how and why results differed from expectations
• Assist in annual review and update of internal controls over the cost accounting processes and quarterly review procedures for SEC filings
• Prepare or support routine cost accounting and inventory/deferred preservation cost functions, including:
• Physical and cycle counts of inventory and tissues to support balance sheet accounts
• Recording of routine monthly accruals for procurement costs, freight, etc.
• Prepare account reconciliations in BlackLine system
• Timely and accurate preparation of cost models for actual and budget
• Analysis of budget to actual variances with reconciliation details
• Timely and accurate information for costing, gross margin, and inventory analyses
• Participate in other analysis and projects as necessary

Qualifications

• 3 years public accounting experience (Big 4 experience preferred), 3 years costing experience, or 5 years industry accounting experience required
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
• Intermediate to Advanced skills in full Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
• Experience with large accounting systems, SAP experience a plus
• Clear understanding of US GAAP and ability to apply this knowledge
• A high level of initiative and drive
• Superior attention to detail and ability to maintain to-do lists and stick to tight deadlines
• Great critical thinker with a natural curiosity to analyze and improve business results and processes
• Experience with Workday Adaptive and Qlik is a plus
• MAcc, MBA, and/or CPA is a plus
• Able to work overtime for quarterly closings or as needed
