About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Controls Engineer III to design, program, and implement custom automation systems. In this role, you’ll handle PLC and HMI programming, machine debugging, and hardware/software integration, while also mentoring junior engineers. You’ll provide technical support to customers and travel for system installations and startups (domestic and international).

This is a senior-level engineering role for someone with 10+ years of automation experience who thrives on solving complex challenges and leading technical projects.

What You’ll Do

• Design and program PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, and vision systems
• Perform system debug, validation, and ensure full functionality of automation equipment
• Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to meet deadlines and budgets
• Support hardware design and system requirements development
• Lead and mentor junior engineers (Controls Engineer I & II)
• Provide on-site technical support and service to customers (25–35% travel required)
• Communicate project status, technical issues, and progress clearly to management
• Adhere to safety policies and maintain a safe, organized work environment

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of experience with PLC, HMI, robotics, motion control, and automation systems
• Strong background with mechanical systems (pneumatics, hydraulics, motor controllers)
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety protocols
• Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment (must provide own tools)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
