Job summary

Nova Talent Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior Controller to lead enterprise accounting, payroll, and accounts payable for a diversified real estate and mortgage-services organization. You will own the close process, financial reporting, audit coordination, and the development of the accounting team.

In this hybrid role based in the Tampa area, you will partner with executives, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and investor reporting standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 10+ years in senior accounting roles within mortgage servicing or financial services.
• Experience leading teams and managing people.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and investor reporting requirements.
• Experience with audits, internal controls, ERP systems, and cash-flow operations.
• Experience with mortgage-servicing platforms.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary

Lead enterprise accounting, payroll, and accounts payable operations across a diversified real estate and mortgage-services organization. This role owns timely close processes, accurate financial reporting, audit coordination, mortgage-servicing-rights valuation support, process optimization, and the continued development of the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions across multiple entities.
• Ensure timely month-end close and accurate internal and external financial reporting.
• Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulators, and third-party valuation firms.
• Support mortgage-servicing-rights valuation and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee cash-flow management, balance-sheet and bank reconciliations, intercompany balancing, disbursement reviews, payroll, debt reporting, and lender-covenant compliance.
• Maintain controls designed to deter fraud and coordinate multiple audits.
• Document management positions on current and emerging U.S. GAAP treatments.
• Review contracts to determine asset ownership and appropriate financial recognition.
• Improve accounting processes, controls, policies, and procedures.
• Coach and develop accounting professionals while partnering with executive stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification.
• At least 15 years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least 10 years in a senior accounting role within mortgage servicing or a substantial financial-services segment, including Controller-level experience.
• Experience managing people and leading teams.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, investor reporting requirements, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae, and mortgage-servicing-rights valuation.
• Experience with financial audits, internal controls, regulatory compliance, enterprise accounting systems, cash-flow operations, and financial-resource planning.
• Experience with mortgage-servicing platforms and ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills.
• Strong executive communication, analytical judgment, project management, change leadership, and attention to detail.

Additional Job Details

• Hybrid, with three days per week onsite.
• Candidates must be based in Tampa, Florida; Rosemont, Illinois; or Dallas, Texas.
• Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

PAY

$175,000 - $225,000 per year
