Job summary

Protera is seeking a Senior Consultant – SAP Production Planning to lead manufacturing-focused SAP solutions across ECC and S/4HANA. You will guide end-to-end solution design, mentor junior team members, and engage with executive stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include designing SAP PP, conducting fit-to-standard workshops, configuring master data, MRP strategies, and capacity planning. You will drive migrations to S/4HANA, PP-DS, and cross-module integration across PP/MM/SD.

Qualifications

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant – SAP Production Planning to lead and deliver manufacturing-focused SAP solutions across ECC and S/4HANA environments. This role requires deep functional expertise, strong cross-module integration capabilities, and the ability to guide clients through complex transformation initiatives, including S/4HANA migrations and advanced manufacturing optimization.

The ideal candidate will combine hands-on configuration experience with strategic advisory skills, driving end-to-end solution design while mentoring junior team members and engaging with executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Delivery

• Lead end-to-end SAP PP solution design and execution for manufacturing clients

• Conduct fit-to-standard workshops and define optimal business processes

• Configure and implement:

  • Master data structures (BOMs, routings, work centers, production versions)
  • Demand management and MRP strategies (MTS, MTO, CTO)
  • Capacity planning and production scheduling

S/4HANA & Transformation

• Support ECC to S/4HANA migrations (brownfield and greenfield approaches)
• Lead transition from classic PP to embedded PP-DS
• Design and implement MRP Live, predictive MRP, and DDMRP concepts
• Enable adoption of Fiori shop floor apps and Manufacturing Cockpit

Integration & Cross-Functional Alignment

• Drive integration across SAP modules, including:

  • PP-MM (procurement-driven production, subcontracting, external processing)
  • PP-SD (ATP, sales order-driven production, scheduling)
  • PP-QM (quality inspection, batch release, in-process controls)
  • PP-FI/CO (product costing, WIP, variance analysis, settlement)
  • PP-EWM/WM (material staging, warehouse integration)
  • PP-PM (resource and equipment availability)

Manufacturing Innovation

• Implement solutions leveraging:

  • Embedded PP-DS and advanced scheduling tools
  • SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud (DMC) and MES integration patterns
  • Discrete, process, and repetitive manufacturing scenarios (REM, PI sheets, backflushing)
  • Variant configuration (LO-VC and S/4 AVC)

Program Leadership & Advisory

• Lead RICEF identification, prioritization, and estimation for PP workstreams
• Define data migration strategies for PP master data and production orders
• Develop cutover and parallel-run strategies for manufacturing operations
• Provide client-facing advisory, including executive presentations and steering committees
• Contribute to SOW development and effort estimation

Team Leadership

• Mentor junior consultants and provide technical oversight
• Drive best practices and ensure quality delivery across project teams

SAP Production Planning Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with:

  • Classic MRP (ECC) and production planning processes
  • Master data design: BOMs, routings, work centers, resources
  • Demand management and supply strategies (MTS, MTO, CTO)
  • Capacity planning and detailed scheduling

S/4HANA & Advanced Planning

• Experience with:

  • Embedded PP-DS
  • S/4HANA manufacturing capabilities and migration strategies
  • Transition from ECC PP to S/4HANA solutions

Integration Experience

• Proven track record integrating PP with MM, SD, and other logistics modules

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:

  • MRP Live (S/4HANA)

  • Variant Configuration (LO-VC) and Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC)

  • All manufacturing order types:

    • Discrete manufacturing
    • Process manufacturing (PI sheets, batch management)
    • Repetitive manufacturing (REM)

• Exposure to:

  • Demand-Driven MRP (DDMRP) and predictive planning models
  • SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud (DMC) and MES integrations
  • Manufacturing Fiori apps and shop floor digitalization

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience in additional SAP modules:

  • WM/EWM, SD, FI/CO, or broader SCM

• Deep expertise in Variant Configuration, including:

  • LO-VC to AVC migration strategy and execution
  • CPQ (Configure-Price-Quote) tools

• Familiarity with:

  • SAP BTP / BAIP and modern development frameworks (MTA, CAP, RAP)
  • Integration architecture across SAP and non-SAP systems
