Job summary

Jacobs in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Senior Construction Manager to lead a data center project, delivering safe, on‑time, and on‑budget outcomes. You will coordinate a professional field staff and interface with Owners and Jacobs management to drive progress and quality.

The role requires 12+ years of large‑scale construction experience, data center know‑how, and CPM scheduling expertise. Strong communication and BIM/Lean capabilities are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of experience on large building construction or civil projects.
  • Experience leading a Data Center project team and managing subcontractor and vendors.
  • Data Center knowledge and upfits experience.
  • Knowledgeable of 120VAC electrical power tie‑ins, instrumentation wiring, controls, fiber terminations, network cabling, and I/O.
  • Knowledgeable of NFPA70E.
  • Strong CPM scheduling and commissioning planning knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings and schedules.
  • Ability to implement BIM, Lean and other leading‑edge technologies.
  • OSHA 30 or willingness to achieve within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and compliance with safety culture.
  • Constructability reviews and pre‑construction planning with safety, cost and schedule focus.
  • Develop and implement construction schedules.
  • Plan commissioning and micro‑scheduling.
  • Lead data center projects of $10M TIC or greater.
  • Lead a field staff of 5 or more.
  • Support modularization and prefabrication methods.
  • Review and approve contractor execution plans.
  • Monitor progress and provide detailed reporting to Owners and Jacobs management.
  • Lead daily and weekly contractor meetings to drive safety, schedule, cost and changes.
  • Establish defect notification and remediation processes with contractors.

Your impact

JACOBS has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Construction Manager to support our data center project in Baton Rouge, LA.

Key responsibilities
  • Implementation and compliance with Jacobs Beyond‑Zero safety culture.
  • Constructability reviews, pre‑construction planning, site logistics planning with the mindset of optimizing safety, cost, and schedule.
  • Construction schedule development and implementation.
  • Commissioning planning and micro‑scheduling.
  • Proven ability to lead Data Center projects of $10M TIC or greater.
  • Proven ability to lead a professional project field staff of 5 or greater.
  • Assisting in developing innovative project solutions around modularization and prefabrication means and methods.
  • Review, verify, provide recommendations and/or approvals of Contractor, Subcontractor and Vendor (Contractors) execution plans.
  • Monitor construction progress daily and provide detailed reporting to Owners and Jacobs management.
  • Leading daily and weekly contractor meetings to drive safety, schedule, change management and project cost.
  • Establish a process for notification and remediation of defects to the contractors during construction.
Required qualifications
  • At least 12 years of experience working on large building construction or civil projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or practical work experience.
  • Experience leading a Data Center project team and managing subcontractor and vendors.
  • Project experience relating to Data Centers and/or Data Center upfits.
  • Knowledgeable of 120VAC electrical power tie‑ins, instrumentation installation (pressure sensors, temp sensors, pressure tubing, etc.), controls wiring, fiber terminations and splicing, network cabling, serial communications, panel wiring and modifications, I/O card or controller installation.
  • Knowledgeable of NFPA70E.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction scheduling (critical path method) and commissioning planning.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office, scheduling and project management programs.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scope or work and project schedules.
  • Ability to implement technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM), Lean principles and other leading‑edge technologies.
  • OSHA 30 or willingness to achieve within 60 days of employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Reaching for, handling, and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
  • Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers and body in and around active construction and operations areas.
  • Standing and walking for periods of time.
  • Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
  • Climbing and egressing step ladders, stairways, uneven surfaces above and below ground level.
  • Lifting to 25 pounds from ground level, waist level and overhead.
  • Carrying up to 25 pounds for 5 yards.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting while navigating project and operation sites.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $146,700.00 to $201,600.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
