Position: Sr. Construction Inspector - Roadway/Pavement

Job Title: Sr. Construction Inspector – Roadway/Pavement

Work Location: Anchorage, AK

Salary: Based on experience and discussed during interview

Requirements: Must be a US Citizen, pass a federal background review, and drug screen

Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect airfield runway construction improvements and pavement resurfacing to ensure workmanship adherence to contract, plans, and specifications.
  2. Perform and support a three-phase inspection system.
  3. Provide detailed daily QA reports documenting on-site activities.
  4. Review and analyze construction contractor progress.
  5. Ensure safety compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards.
  6. Review design documents, log comments, and verify as-built drawings.
  7. Review and validate contractor payment requests.
  8. Review daily reports and verify project schedule activities.
  9. Maintain an Inspector's Site Inspection Report.
  10. Assist with RFIs, modifications, and change orders.
  11. Participate in pre-final and final inspections, prepare punch-lists, and ensure correction of all punch list items prior to final payment.

Experience/Education:

  1. High School diploma or GED with at least 7 years of construction inspection experience, preferably on airfield runway improvements, roadways, or pavement resurfacing.
  2. Or, an Associate Degree or Technical Training Degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Or, a Bachelor of Science Degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  4. Paving Inspector Certification from the Asphalt Institute required within 30 days of start.
  5. Experience with Resident Management System (RMS 3.0) preferred.
  6. Experience enforcing EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and safety standards.
  7. Proven experience in quality assurance inspections, submittal reviews, verifying contractor pay requests, and daily reporting.
  8. Experience with Federal Construction projects, especially US Army Corps of Engineers, preferred.
  9. Professional presentation, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail required.

Additional Notes: QARs may work in remote locations with extreme environmental conditions (heat or cold).
