Job description

Sr Configuration Analyst/Manager, Mechanical Engineering, Configuration Management

Job ID: 10525043 | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking an experienced Configuration Change Analyst/Manager with deep expertise in Configuration Management and Systems Engineering to join the Engineering Practice & Configuration Management team. This is a highly technical engineering role requiring hands-on experience with integrated hardware development programs and a strong appreciation for complex satellite systems architecture. You will carry direct responsibility for engineering change analysis across system and subsystem design, ensuring alignment of changes with technical design, interface specifications, requirements, and programmatic schedule, cost, and production constraints. You will perform impact analysis across the full satellite system, spanning satellite bus, payload, electrical engineering, phased array antenna, radio frequency, and structural subsystems and maintain configuration baselines across multiple vehicle configurations and evolving product lines.

This role requires someone who has established data hierarchies and structures for aerospace systems, understands the physical architecture of spacecraft, and can translate complex change impacts into data-driven technical packages for leadership decision-making. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and collaborate with multiple technical and production manufacturing teams across Amazon locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and energized by the opportunity to solve problems that have not been solved at this scale before.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
  • Configuration Baseline Management: Manage and maintain the configuration management baseline for the entire satellite across multiple vehicle configurations and evolving product lines; enforce configuration identification, change accounting, and configuration status accounting disciplines.
  • Engineering Change Analysis: Perform comprehensive impact analysis across satellite and aerospace systems for all engineering change proposals; assess impacts to technical design, interface specifications (Physical, Informational, and Operational ICDs), requirements, schedule, cost, and production.
  • Business Requirements & Process Governance: Own the definition and maintenance of business requirements and process documentation (QSD standards) for Engineering Change Control - ensuring change workflows, classification logic, and approval processes are codified, enforceable, and aligned with the LeoSpace Engineering Application Platform and Teamcenter.
  • Data Hierarchy & Structure: Establish and maintain data hierarchies and structures for aerospace systems with multiple evolving product lines; ensure as-designed, as-built, and as-tested configurations are accurately captured and traceable through the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) toolchain.
  • Change Control Board: Lead the Change Control Board (CCB) and LeoSpace Platform impact assessment mechanisms; manage analysis, dependencies, and deliverables for all change categories across engineering disciplines.
  • Technical Data Package Development: Develop and present data-driven technical packages to leadership and management; produce GD&T-compliant drawing packages and engineering documentation that support change disposition.
  • Cross-Functional Change Coordination: Coordinate change analysis across multiple engineering functions (Satellite Bus, Payload, EE, Phased Array Antenna, RF, Structures) ensuring impact assessments and necessary escalations are effectively managed.
  • Configuration Status Reporting: Maintain engineering change notification logs; track status, ownership, and disposition across all open change actions; deliver executive-level reporting on change control health and metrics.
  • Systems Engineering Integration: Apply systems engineering expertise to evaluate change impacts across spacecraft subsystems; ensure changes retain compliance with interface control documents and system-level requirements.
Basic Qualifications

  • Experience establishing data hierarchies and structures for aerospace systems with multiple evolving product lines
  • Familiarity with Physical, Informational, and Operational Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Background in design of satellite systems, launch vehicles, or aerospace systems
  • Expertise in GD&T and drawing technical data packages
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Change Analyst, Principal, or Chief Engineer for major system reviews and Impact Analysis (PDR, CDR, PRR, production readiness)
  • Data analytics capability - familiar with automation, software development, and tool creation including AI usage for automation of configuration management reporting with large data sets
  • Experience with tool integration across NX, Teamcenter, SAP, Datahive, and similar engineering enterprise systems
  • Track record of reporting data-driven technical packages to leadership and management
  • Proficiency with PLM and CAD systems (ideally Siemens NX/Teamcenter)
  • Experience managing configuration baselines through lifecycle phase transitions (development - production - on-orbit operations)
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet, Confluence, JIRA, and LeoSpace or comparable engineering platforms
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP) for manufacturing change coordination and inventory impact assessment
  • Background in managing engineering change processes across complex multi-disciplinary programs with integrated hardware and software
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate transition impacts across procedures, strategies, and organizational structures to all affected stakeholders
