You will collaborate with world-class creatives, designers, and engineers to deliver agentic, ML-powered features for creators. The role combines deep vision and ML work with production readiness, model runtimes, and cross-functional collaboration, including tool contracts, schemas, and orchestration.

Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field and 4+ years of industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of ML, deep learning, and transformer-based vision models.
• Experience with LLM/VLM-powered agents, tool use, and multi-step reasoning.
• Experience deploying models into production and collaborating across teams.

Description

The ideal candidate combines strong foundations in agentic workflows with hands-on experience building, evaluating, and deploying complex user-facing systems. This position requires a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization. You will contribute to the design and development of next-generation agentic features for Apple’s creative applications.

Responsibilities

• Design agentic workflows that use these models to solve multi-step user problems, including tool contracts, schemas, and orchestration logic.
• Build state-of-the-art vision models, from data collection to architecture design and training.
• Build evaluation frameworks for agentic workflows, covering task success metrics, benchmarks, and regression testing.
• Partner with client teams to integrate models and workflows into model runtimes and orchestration frameworks.
• Work with cross-functional teams to take ML-powered features for creators from concept to delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, and 4+ years of industry experience delivering products in generative AI, machine learning, or computer vision.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of machine learning and deep learning.
• Experience building and evaluating LLM/VLM-powered agents, including tool use, multi-step reasoning, planning, and context management.
• Hands‑on experience building, training, and deploying transformer‑based vision models, GANs, or related methods.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++ and a deep learning framework such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Creative problem solver with strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Committed to encouraging an open and inclusive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Experience deploying agentic systems to production, including work on AI reliability, safety, or benchmarking.
• Experience fine‑tuning LLMs or training adapters for foundation models.
• Experience optimizing models for resource‑constrained platforms, ideally with Core ML, Swift, and iOS/macOS.
• Strong patent and publication record at top conferences.
• Keen interest in the art and science of photography.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,000 and $308,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
