Thrivent is seeking a Senior Compliance Analyst in a hybrid role based in Minneapolis, MN (or Appleton, WI) to analyze and apply regulatory requirements to Thrivent’s business practices, ensuring controls and processes are effective and well-documented.

The role supports Thrivent’s Information Lifecycle Management program, conducts policy development, monitoring of laws, and serves as a liaison with regulators and internal partners.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and apply regulatory requirements to Thrivent’s business practices and establish effective regulatory processes and controls.
  • Consult on ILM/Retention questions, including data retention, disposition, de-identification and deletion requirements.
  • Create and maintain policies, procedures, schedules, and guidelines.
  • Monitor changes to laws and regulations specific to data retention and deletion.
  • Conduct control testing and respond to internal audits and regulatory requests.
  • Manage offsite storage and onsite shredding processes and vendors.

Job description

This is a hybrid position that requires onsite presence as needed in either Minneapolis, MN or Appleton, WI. This position is responsible for analyzing and applying complex regulatory and compliance requirements to Thrivent’s business practices and for ensuring appropriate regulatory processes and controls are established and are working effectively. The position interprets detailed and often complex regulatory requirements, necessitating practical and conceptual subject matter expertise. Provides polished and clear consult and advice in a manner that helps business partners understand and mitigate risk. Additionally, this role supports and administers Thrivent’s Information Lifecycle Management program, including records retention, policy and procedure maintenance, control testing, and establishing cross-functional partnerships to ensure retention requirements are effectively implemented and maintained. This position handles complex work and takes a lead in producing documentation to support regulatory investigations or audits.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gathers and synthesizes information from multiple sources in a meaningful manner.
  • Conducts research using regulatory websites, legal research tools, or using industry resources.
  • Applies knowledge to business practice, communications, or procedures to draw conclusions and to recommend appropriate action.
  • Clearly and succinctly communicates findings to business partners, representatives, and management, in a manner that helps stakeholders understand the regulatory requirements and related risk.
  • Partners with key stakeholders in a collaborative manner.
  • Identifies and takes action to correct compliance deficiencies.
  • Provides compliance/regulatory consult on complex compliance matters.
  • Performs testing and monitoring functions.
  • Represents the interests of unit on cross-organizational initiatives and leads in‑unit projects; leads/supports key regulatory/compliance initiatives within the unit, division and corporate projects.
  • Regularly interacts with regulators/auditors.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures.

Specific areas of responsibility

The Senior Compliance Analyst will be a member of the Shared Services Law & Compliance team, supporting the Information Lifecycle Management (ILM)/Data Retention program. Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Consulting with business areas on ILM/Retention related questions, including questions about data retention, disposition, decommission, de‑identification and deletion requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining policies, procedures, schedules, and guidelines.
  • Monitoring for changes to laws and regulations specific to data retention, disposition, de‑identification, and deletion.
  • Conducting control testing, responding to internal audit requests, and responding to regulatory requests as applicable.
  • Managing the offsite storage and onsite shredding processes and vendors.
  • Reviewing and updating employee training specific to ILM/Retention.

Pay Transparency

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full‑time role is $81,537.00 - $110,315.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
