Job summary

Suncor Energy Inc. seeks a Marine Commercial Scheduler to optimize scheduling operations from our Houston trading office.

You will arrange transportation for trading activity, develop delivery schedules, and closely coordinate with stakeholders in a fast-paced energy trading environment. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in scheduling within energy commodities, with strong analytical and financial acumen, and a background in trade capture and risk management systems.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in a scheduling role within appropriate commodity industries (crude, fuel oil, refined products preferred).
• Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, economics or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with trade capture, scheduling, finance, and risk management systems.

Responsibilities

• Arrange all transportation requirements for the execution of trading activity.
• Develop comprehensive delivery schedule and communicate to key stakeholders daily.
• Assist in reviewing and improving processes for the department to optimize the company portfolio.
• Anticipates patterns and links; looks beyond the immediate problem to wider implications.
• Work autonomously within established procedures while adding value with continuous improvement.
• Utilize experience level to promote cross training and develop colleagues through knowledge sharing.
• Apply critical thinking for new and innovative solutions to complex operational problem solving.
• Handle unexpected operational issues and provide guidance during off-peak hours.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years’ of experience in a scheduling role within appropriate commodity industries (crude, fuel oil, refined products preferred)
• Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, economics or equivalent preferred
• Experience with trade capture, scheduling, finance, and risk management systems
• Specialized knowledge and skills in a variety of scheduling processes and activities
• Strong understanding of commodity trade positioning
• Superior analytical, quantitative skills and accounting acumen
• In-depth understanding of waterborne and pipeline operational requirements

Location and other Key Details

You will work out of the Houston office, located at 2 Allen Centre, 1200 Smith St. This role is office based, hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
