Overview

Rapiscan Systems | AS&E, an OSI Systems Company, is seeking a Commodity Manager based in Billerica, MA.

We provide advanced x-ray technologies for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and critical infrastructure globally. Join us to help deliver top-tier cargo and vehicle screening systems to combat terrorism, trade fraud, smuggling, and illegal immigration.

The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments and collaborates across multiple teams. Success requires strong product focus, business judgment, and the ability to translate high-level ideas into actionable features and phases. Influencing cross-functional teams at all levels is crucial.

This role involves defining and owning the strategy, capabilities, and operational excellence of assigned commodities, fostering innovation, promoting sustainable procurement, and enhancing procurement team capabilities. You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver best-in-class products and manage procurement expenditures, including developing strategic supplier relationships.

You will ensure requirements are met timely, maintaining quality standards, and delivering cost-effective supply solutions. Leadership and mentorship of the global commodity team are essential, with a focus on cost efficiency for cargo sites.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead with creativity, problem-solving, and a results-oriented approach.
  2. Ensure effective sourcing to improve quality, cost, service, and technology.
  3. Identify new product opportunities and automate processes for productivity.
  4. Support product roadmaps and supply chain efficiency.
  5. Stay informed on market trends and develop business cases for new products.
  6. Leverage global teams for expertise.
  7. Manage supply chain impacts and obsolescence issues proactively.
  8. Support multi-site procurement projects.
  9. Monitor KPIs to maintain quality and delivery standards.
  10. Lead, motivate, and develop procurement team members.
  11. Drive supplier rationalization and development efforts.
  12. Leverage synergies across OSI procurement groups.
  13. Ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective supply of products/services.
  14. Negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  15. Manage strategic supplier relationships and conduct regular reviews.
  16. Oversee sourcing, supplier selection, and new product integration.
  17. Support make-or-buy decisions and manage engineering change orders.
  18. Comply with ISO procurement standards.
  19. Uphold company values and ethics, reporting issues proactively.
Qualifications
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, quality management, and contract negotiations.
  • Bachelor’s in Business or Supply Chain preferred; 8-10 years sourcing experience if not.
  • Minimum 10 years’ commodities purchasing experience, including IT, electronics, mechanical, fabrication.
  • Operations experience in procurement/materials management is a plus.
  • MCIPS/APICS or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven cost reduction achievements and supplier relationship skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and ERP systems like Microsoft Navision/D365.
  • Experience with Agile PLM and knowledge of manufacturing processes and ISO standards.
