This role serves as a technical leader within the manufacturing organization and provides mentorship to machinists at all levels while ensuring production goals, quality requirements, and customer expectations are achieved.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently perform complete setups on CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machining centersRead and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentationApply GD&T principles to determine setup strategy, inspection requirements, and process capabilitySelect tooling, work holding, and machining strategies for efficient productionTroubleshoot machines, tooling, programming, and quality issuesOptimize machining processes for cycle time, tool life, and quality performancePerform first article inspections and support process validationsCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production teamsMentor and train Machinist I, II, and III personnelLead setting up reduction and continuous improvement initiativesSupport new product launches and prototype workAssist with processing documentation and standard work developmentMaintain strict compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and material traceabilityServe as a technical resource during production challenges and escalationsPerform other duties, as assigned.What You Bring to United Precision Corporation:RequiredHigh school diploma or GED8 or more years’ relevant CNC machining experienceExtensive experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and millsAdvanced blueprint reading skillsStrong GD&T knowledge and applicationExpert use of precision measuring instrumentsAbility to independently troubleshoot machining and quality issuesPreferredJourneyman Machinist certificationTechnical degree in Machining TechnologyAerospace and/or defense manufacturing experienceExperience with multi-axis machining centersExperience with probing systems and advanced inspection techniquesCAM software exposureLean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement trainingCore Competencies and Skills for Success in this Role:Communication SkillsAttention to DetailRoot Cause AnalysisProcess OptimizationQuality ExcellenceContinuous ImprovementProduct KnowledgeTechnical ExpertisePhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
