Sr Machinist – Job Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate various advanced CNC machines and assist with set-ups of basic CNC machines.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read basic blueprints or mechanical drawings.
Recognize machining or manufacturing problems to produce defect free parts while meeting production rates.
Accurately perform measurement tasks utilizing measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience setting up basic CNC production equipment. Examples of basic equipment include 3-axis mills, 2 axis lathes, etc.
Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience operating advanced CNC production equipment. Examples of advanced equipment include 4 and 5-axis mills, Swiss machines, etc.
Knowledge Requirements:
Given routine set-ups and adjustments using simple offsets with only limited supervision. Qualified candidates must have demonstrated competency in the set-up and operation of CNC and manual mills, lathes, EDM, grinders, ECG, and/or mill-turns.
Adjust tool wear offsets, adjust work (fixture) offsets, and safely perform mid-program starts.
Possess a basic understanding of the mechanical steps required to install and align the designated tools and hardware for metal cutting/fabricating operations.
Read and interpret blueprints, apply shop math and basic metrology tools, and have the ability to learn the more advanced metrology skills.
Machine Operators who are able to run advanced machines and set-up basic machines in order to promote into this position.
