Performs diversified machining operations largely on standard work having tolerance and finish specifications requiring a general knowledge of machining practices and techniques.**This position must have the ability to perform the following:****Responsibilities:** • Works from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations. • Performs machine set-ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts. • Obtains required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices. • Completes and maintains all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job. • Makes jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned. • Acquires raw material, supplies, tools, etc. when necessary. • Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion and conforms to all quality procedures and standards. • Performs routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule. • Troubleshoots drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and making competent decisions pertaining to job at hand. • Utilizes Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print. • Responsible for providing guidance and training to lower-level machinist**Minimum required qualifications:** • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Must be able to measure parts using micrometers, calipers or other measuring tools • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints • Minimum 5 years of experience**The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:** • Clear communication, both oral and written • Organization skills; keep area clean to 5S standards • Prior shop or mechanical experience desired • Meets productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner**Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:** • Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination.**Physical Hazards:** • Normal operations require eye protection, steel-toed footwear, and occasionally hand protection.Working Conditions: • Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise.
