Job summary

Charles Schwab in Austin is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to shape the next generation cloud solutions, focusing on secure, scalable infrastructure across on‑prem and multiple cloud providers.

The role requires 7+ years in Enterprise IT, hands-on experience with Terraform and IaC, and strong DevOps tooling. You\'ll work with architecture and security teams in a hybrid work model to deliver reliable services.

The Senior Cloud Engineer will have the opportunity to help shape the next generation Cloud solutions for Charles Schwab & Co. The ideal candidate will have experience in large scale cloud service design to protect virtualized workloads across a variety of technology and service domains. This will be hands‑on design, engineering and support of Schwab's architecture applied to our initiatives. This role is for someone who sees themselves as a cloud practitioner with technology domain expertise.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience working within Enterprise IT.
• 3+ years’ experience designing, deploying, and maintaining hybrid network architectures connecting on-premises data centers to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Provider (GCP).
  
• 3+ years’ experience with infrastructure as code tools including Terraform.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, related degree OR related practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Design experience in secure cloud infrastructure with minimal blast radius, change risk, and streamlined migration paths, while enforcing strict least privilege access and baseline configuration standards.
• Coding proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Salt or similar automation tools as all provisioning includes Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with Cloud Security products and following secure design principles.
• Experience defining and implementing controls based on NIST and CIS standards.
• Extensive experience building and managing infrastructure through GitOps workflows and Infrastructure as Code, enabling consistent, auditable cloud environments and rapid reliable deployments OR related constructs in either AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Working proficiency with SCM and DevOps tool suites; examples include Git, Bitbucket, Github, Bamboo, Github Actions, Jenkins, Concourse etc.
• Experience in the development of policy and operational processes to insure high availability and service of entire technology stack.
• Experience working with development and security architects to determine project requirements, specifications, and technical solutions.
• Experience with supporting mission critical, 24x7 systems.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, experience adopting or leading continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and frameworks.
• Google Professional, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solution Architect or similar Cloud Provider Certification is a plus.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
