Job summary

Inova Health System in Northern Virginia seeks a Sr. Clinical Pharmacist - Bone Marrow Transplant to join our team. This full-time position supports the BMT program with rotating Monday–Friday shifts and a sign-on bonus with relocation assistance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of clinical oncology experience.
• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
• Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, prepares, and verifies medication orders as appropriate.
• Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives.
• Issues controlled substances in compliance with DEA and VA Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Participates in formulary review and approval.
• Monitors drug therapies for interactions and appropriateness.
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement.
• Participates in decentralized rounding with clinical teams.
• Responds to emergent bedside alerts and codes (adult and pediatric).
• Precepts learners; may spearhead grant work and lectures; serves on committees and professional organizations.

• Precepts learners as appropriate.
• May perform additional duties as assigned, including, but not limited to:
  • Spearheading grant work and submission related to the practice of pharmacy.
  • Lecturing and facilitating learning opportunities for pharmacy students, PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents, and practitioners.
  • Performing duties on local, system. And national committees which contribute to the development and professional advancement of pharmacy practice.
  • Serving as a leader or facilitator on a regional or national professional organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Work schedule: Monday - Friday day shift.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
• Experience: Five (5) years of clinical oncology experience.
• Licensure: Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• PGY1/PGY2 Oncology residency.
• Board certified Oncology Pharmacist or certification obtained within two (2) years of employment.
