Job summary

Inova Health System seeks a dedicated Sr. Clinical Pharmacist - Bone Marrow Transplant to join our team on a full-time rotating shift schedule. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

The role involves interpreting orders, providing clinical consultation, monitoring therapies, and participating in formulary reviews. Teaching opportunities and leadership roles may be available within the pharmacy team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
• Five years of clinical oncology experience
• Licensed Pharmacist in the state VA
• BLS, ACLS for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and PALS within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Interprets, prepares, and verifies medication orders
• Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives
• Issues controlled substances in compliance according to the DEA and VA Board of Pharmacy requirements
• Participates in the medication formulary review and approval process
• Monitors drug therapies for interactions, allergies, and appropriateness
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions
• Participates in decentralized rounding with clinical teams
• Responds to emergent bedside alerts and codes
• Precepts learners as appropriate; may lead grant work and teaching activities

Sr. Clinical Pharmacist BMT Job Responsibilities:

• Monitors drug therapies for interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately.
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions.
• Participates in decentralized rounding with clinical teams.
• Responds to emergent bedside alerts and codes (adult and pediatric as designated).
• Precepts learners as appropriate.
• May perform additional duties as assigned, including, but not limited to:

  • Spearheading grant work and submission related to the practice of pharmacy.

  • Lecturing and facilitating learning opportunities for pharmacy students, PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents, and practitioners.

  • Performing duties on local, system. And national committees which contribute to the development and professional advancement of pharmacy practice.

  • Serving as a leader or facilitator on a regional or national professional organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Work schedule: Monday - Friday day shift.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

• Experience: Five (5) years of clinical oncology experience.

• Licensure: Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PGY1/PGY2 Oncology residency.
• Board certified Oncology Pharmacist or certification obtained within two (2) years of employment.
