Job Description

Candidates must have extensive experience managing California Workers Compensation Claims.

SIP certification is a requirement.

Responsibilities
  1. Investigate and settle advanced, large loss, complex claims promptly and equitably under minimal supervision.
  2. Review coverages, determine liability and compensability, secure information, arrange property damage appraisals, and settle claims using best practices.
  3. Evaluate and set reserves using independent judgment.
  4. Assist supervisors and defense attorneys in preparing cases for litigation.
  5. Conduct training and mentor new hires.
  6. Interpret and make decisions on complex and unusual policy coverages.
  7. Manage all investigative activities on complex claims and coordinate with legal counsel on discovery and litigation strategy.
  8. Analyze claims activity and prepare reports for clients, carriers, and management.
  9. Establish reserves, authorize payments within scope of authority, and settle claims cost-effectively and timely.
  10. Develop subrogation and third-party recovery potentials and follow reclaim procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4-8 years of technical claims investigations/settling experience.
  • Ability to work independently and assimilate technical subjects.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for interaction at all levels.
  • Preferred industry designations: IIA, AIC, AEI, CPCU.
  • License requirements as per jurisdiction, including Workers Compensation Adjuster License.
