Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring a Senior Designer to join our Land Development team in Raleigh, NC.

• Civil engineering design and calculations for site grading, erosion and sedimentation control, water, wastewater, and stormwater components of Land Development projects.
• Participation in technical studies, AutoCAD-based design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
• Permitting applications and processing.
• Construction administration support including field observation reports.
• Scheduling and preparation of project cost estimates and schedules.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong technical and professional communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
• Ability to work in a team environment on multiple assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; AA in Engineering technology or drafting required.
• Minimum of 6-10+ years of professional experience.
• Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based on the position.

Performance Expectations

• Complete Annual Individual Training Program.
• Mentor and train staff.
• Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence.
• Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
• Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements.
• Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required.
• Complete other duties as required/assigned.
• Oversee work of designers as required.
• Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target (85% typical).
• Attend bi-weekly (or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks.
• Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope.
• Coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required.
• Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters.
• Compare field data to base plan.
• Design and draft construction drawings using standard engineering fundamentals for approval by federal, state, and local agencies.
• Gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs as needed.
• Read and interpret technical documents needed for the job.
• Review and interpret design manuals and details from local jurisdictions.
• Size and specify design requirements.
