Job description

Sr. Chemist- Esoteric Ops - Chantilly, VA

Shift: Mon - Fri - 8:00AM-5:00PM

Pay Range: $31.00+ per hour

Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

The incumbent ensures the accuracy of laboratory services, oversees personnel training, manages laboratory policies, and operates within budget constraints. They support compliance with all policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Recommend and endorse test methods, including validation and documentation.
  2. Maintain recipes, instructions, and production schedules.
  3. Plan and schedule production for timely delivery.
  4. Develop and maintain laboratory procedure manuals for accreditation.
  5. Hire, retain, and train qualified personnel.
  6. Oversee daily laboratory operations and staff.
  7. Resolve technical issues and provide on-site consultation.
  8. Ensure remedial actions for test deviations.
  9. Coordinate training and continuing education.
  10. Verify personnel compliance with regulations annually.
  11. Manage budget and prepare departmental reports.
  12. Participate in meetings and communicate pertinent information.
  13. Provide data for professional services manual.
  14. Report reagent and supply issues to management.
  15. Ensure timely manufacturing of reagents and controls.
  16. Adhere to safety protocols and use PPE.
  17. Maintain training records and perform administrative duties.
  18. Support laboratory policies and perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in biological, chemical, physical science, or Medical Technology from an accredited U.S. institution. Foreign candidates must provide credential evaluation from NACES or AICE.

Experience: Minimum 2 years in a clinical laboratory performing high-complexity testing.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of tests and equipment, decision-making under stress, leadership, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal skills, and handling hazardous materials.

Physical Demands: Prolonged standing and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
