About The Role
Uber Freight is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Procurement and Strategy Manager to lead vendor sourcing and management for supply chain and transportation operations. This role focuses on optimizing vendor relationships, driving financial improvements, and aligning procurement strategies with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and a passion for advancing transportation strategies within a dynamic, innovative environment.
What The Candidate Will Do
- Lead vendor negotiations and pricing strategies to enhance financial performance across international supply chain services.
- Develop and implement standardized negotiation methodologies, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders.
- Manage multiple vendor relationships to support transportation and supply chain strategy.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to execute strategic procurement projects.
- Design and implement procurement strategies for both individual projects and broader organizational goals.
- Oversee stakeholder and partner team initiatives to deliver valuable projects while resolving obstacles effectively.
- Draft data-driven proposals, setting clear expectations and requirements for external vendors and internal teams.
- Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges throughout the procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and compliance.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in transportation procurement, supply chain management, or carrier sourcing and negotiations.
- Proven experience managing final mile carrier relationships and contract negotiations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong analytical skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Ariba, or similar TMS/ERP systems).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost savings and improve vendor performance.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, carrier management, or transportation strategy, particularly in last mile or box truck logistics.
- Experience working with remote or globally distributed teams.
- Background in managing complex logistics operations or strategic sourcing projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data modeling, pivot tables) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with sustainability or green procurement practices in transportation and logistics.
- Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with experience collaborating with senior leadership and external partners.
- Knowledge of legal and compliance aspects of procurement contracts.
- Financial acumen to analyze procurement performance and drive cost efficiency.
