Job summary

Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, MD, seeks an Sr. Calibration Technician to setup, calibrate, and operate diverse equipment in production, engineering, and field support. You will follow instructions, capture data in a web-based system, and help develop calibration procedures for new gear.

Responsibilities include executing work orders in the calibration lab, working with diverse tools, and supporting engineers. Strong teamwork, initiative, and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • High knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical technical theory.
  • Able to independently determine approaches to solutions with only general direction.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office tools.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Execute calibration lab work orders per established frequency schedules.
  • Calibrate meters, scopes, generators, and related test tools.
  • Capture calibration outcomes and data in a web-based database.
  • Assist senior technicians or engineers in process development.

Job description

About This Role The position will be responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of equipment used in production, engineering and field support departments. Requires working from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Responsible for capturing the calibration outcome and data using a web-based database application. Technicians will also create calibration processes and procedures for new equipment. Performing maintenance or small repairs of equipment as required.

About This Role The position will be responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of equipment used in production, engineering and field support departments. Requires working from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Responsible for capturing the calibration outcome and data using a web-based database application. Technicians will also create calibration processes and procedures for new equipment. Performing maintenance or small repairs of equipment as required.

Performs one or more technical functions related to the support of engineering such as set-up, operation, testing, detailing and/or calibration of systems or specialized equipment. Follows established policies and procedures. You may assist senior technicians or engineers in basic process development or evaluation and requires basic knowledge of procedures and technical theory in assigned product areas.

The Sr. Calibration Technician position is responsible for execution of work orders within the calibration lab based on established frequency schedules. Included in the calibration execution is required but not limited to meters, scopes, generators, hi/low/vacuum pressure gauges, temperature equipment, counters, analyzers, power supplies, RF equipment, test tools, amplifiers, probes, tools, indicators, torque wrenches, ESD benches, and weight scales.

Required Skills:

  • High knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical technical theory
  • Able to independently determine approaches to solutions with only general direction
  • Ability to work with outside suppliers as well as internal customers
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of products; Word, Excel, Explorer, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and positively

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with a calibration database program and/or a MRP program such as Oracle
  • 2+ years of experience in a calibration lab
  • Strong PC skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to obtain a “Secret” level security clearance.

Education:

  • Technical program, High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in a Technical related field preferred
