A leading company in California is seeking a Purchasing Agent to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with regulations. The role involves evaluating suppliers, purchasing materials, and applying continuous improvement techniques to enhance efficiency. Position Summary
Obtains the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. Identifies manufacturing needs, selects suppliers, negotiates contracts, and arranges delivery. Purchases a high volume and variety of parts, equipment, services, and materials.
Essential Functions
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience. Typically two or more years of responsible purchasing experience. CPM or APICS certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, industry practices, legal requirements, and continuous improvement techniques. Proficiency in business software and procurement systems. Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and team skills.
Physical and Mental Demands
Sitting, using hands for computer work, talking, and hearing. Occasional standing and walking. Vision requirements include close vision. May require overnight travel. Must maintain professional conduct and manage multiple tasks.
