Job description

Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, LeeP & VMP

Job ID: 2951223 | Amazon.com Services LLC

At Amazon.com we are working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. Amazon's Consumables Virtual Multi-Pack (VMP) program is looking for a business intelligence leader to drive strategic operational & technical initiatives. VMP takes an existing, single-pack product, and creates a new multi-pack ASIN that can be merchandized individually and variated to the already existing single-pack offer. Customers benefit from simple access to a variety of pack sizes that present improved value while Amazon can benefit from shipping consolidation lowering our cost to serve customers.

The Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) is an innovative, results driven professional that executes continuous improvement through data-driven actions. The individual must exercise strong judgment and autonomy in the identification and execution of strategic improvement plans built on Business, Science, Technology, and Operations partnerships. This role will impact and inform how Amazon executes its VMP strategy across its Everyday Essentials business. The individual should possess a track record of successful relationship management, strong business and analytical acumen, and experience working with technology and engineering teams. Great communication skills, ability to think big and influence across Amazon teams and high ownership to deliver successful results will be essential.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Engage across product, tech, and finance teams to lead the data strategy powering growth and savings for the VMP program.
  2. Collaborate with science teams to build out pack size prediction models leveraging ML and Amazon's wide array of catalog + sales data.
  3. Work with tech to design data structures that can scale to support reporting needs and analysis of a rapidly expanding program growing over 100% YoY.
  4. Perform deep dives to help make business recommendations that guide the product strategy and long-term vision.
  5. Build, own, and maintain WBR and reporting mechanisms used by 300+ users across Amazon.
  6. Support WW expansion to new marketplaces.
  7. Holistically architect an end-to-end BI landscape that activates reporting, analysis & insights for the VMP program that includes building and harvesting datasets, data pipelines, ETL, application of custom logic, data visualization & storytelling to drive the business forward.
  8. Improve auditing tools to understand relevant inputs and identify gaps in technology systems to support creation of new capabilities to drive business operating leverage.
  9. Build insights-oriented visualization tools in Quicksight or Tableau to enhance existing ways of work for product managers, program managers, finance partners, and stakeholder partner teams.
  10. Challenge existing process and work streams with data-driven insights that offer alternatives that are cost neutral, or favorable, but drive much more scalable execution.
  11. Partner across the Everyday Essentials tech teams as well as the central Data Engineering team to create an intelligence roadmap that addresses core areas for automation, scale, and business financial productivity.
  12. Scale roadmap and solutions across categories by ensuring cross-company impact is measured and supported by stakeholder businesses.
  13. Understand the value chain within the broader Amazon.com site experience to inform new insights on customer engagement.
  14. Develop a knowledge repository for VMP data intelligence as part of an evolving center of excellence that can be referred to outside of the VMP business.
