The Role: Senior Build and Automation Engineer

The Senior Build and Automation Engineer will be responsible for building innovative frameworks across Tinder Engineering. This role involves working with various feature teams and outsourced QA automation engineers to ensure high-quality releases with solid test automation coverage. The candidate will recommend, improve, and implement testing tools, techniques, and technologies, and maintain our build stack by updating to the latest versions of Gradle, Android Gradle Plugin, and other components.

Location: This is a hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration twice per week at our offices in West Hollywood, Palo Alto, California.

What You'll Do

• Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure features are developed with automated testing in mind.
• Evaluate and improve existing automation frameworks and test scripts.
• Implement proven automation tools, technologies, and techniques.
• Lead and train quality engineering vendor team members on best practices and automation frameworks.
• Create dashboards to monitor and improve release quality through automated tests integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Evaluate vendor tooling through scalable Proof of Concepts.
• Manage and improve CI pipelines on Android.
• Maintain and update our build stack with the latest versions.
• Enhance the reliability and performance of test and build processes.

What You'll Need

• At least 4+ years of experience building large-scale mobile applications for Android in a global tech company.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience with automation frameworks for mobile app testing, preferably with Espresso. Experience with Appium, Calabash is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of automation implementation across functional, performance, regression, analytics, and accessibility testing.
• Experience with external testing solutions like BrowserStack, Firebase Test Lab, or Marathon Lab.
• Passion for continuous learning and effective communication of technical concepts.
