Duties:
Examine damaged vehicles and paint vehicle body components on various commercial trucks, buses, and trailers.
Produce sprayed paint finishes with little or no dirt and a consistent gloss and texture matching the OEM finish without the need to sand and buff.
Mix paint and spray using XALTA SYSTEM PAINTS
Clean and inspect parts prior to painting.
Follow all procedures for a quality, lasting paint finish.
Be able to mix and spray all products used.
Maintain spray equipment to meet operational standards, but not including repair of equipment.
Follow hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures.
File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces.
Prep truck / vehicle bodies and components for painting.
Fill depressions with body filler, patch holes and work with Fiberglass.
Support ad-hoc projects related to the DFS priorities and initiatives.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years’ experience; or 7 years’ experience in a related field
1+ years of related vehicle body painting and / or collision repair experience and/or associate formal training.
Must provide own hand tools that are adequate to perform job functions.
Strong experience with XALTA System Paints preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task and apply initiative.
Positive attitude, Safety conscious, good instincts, and self-motivation
Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
Able to read and interpret shop orders to determine the color required.
Able to determine the proper surface condition for acceptance of paint and prepare if required.
Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
Drug Testing:
To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
Compensation:
Hourly base pay rate is $23.65 - $35.48/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
