Compensation:
Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $76,500 - $162,800.

Organization Overview:
The Discovery Chemistry Research & Technologies organization (DCR&T) within Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated biologist with expertise in cell engineering and assay development to join our Molecular Pharmacology team at Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis, Indiana. The successful candidate will be part of a highly integrated, agile, and collaborative team, encompassing Biophysics, Bioanalytical, Chemical Biology to bring innovative Molecular Pharmacology approaches to accelerate the drug discovery pipeline. In this position, the candidate will assist in cell line generation, assay development, and high throughput screening to identify and characterize the in vitro pharmacology of novel therapeutics, playing a crucial role in supporting our comprehensive drug discovery efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently design and create cell lines suitable for characterizing GPCR pharmacology and improve success rates in Hit finding.
  • Use cutting-edge technologies to develop cell-based assays to understand target engagement and signaling pathways.
  • Perform high-throughput cell-based assays using multiple platforms (e.g. imaging, reporter gene, immunoassay, gene expression assays).
  • Interpret experimental data, along with observations from the literature, to introduce creative solutions to project teams.
  • Provide data and insights into the pharmacology of small molecules to support drug discovery projects in multiple therapeutic areas (diabetes, immunology, and neurosciences).
  • Work in close collaboration with internal/external partners to ensure a strong relationship and rapid delivery of quality results in a format customized to meet their specific needs.
  • Strive to maintain a proactive safety culture with always keeping safety as the top priority.

Basic Requirements:

  • MS in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field; or,
  • BS in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field with a minimum of 2 years relevant lab experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Hands-on cell culture experience working with multiple cell lines (e.g. HEK293, THP-1, primary cell lines, and/or other).
  • Prior work with CRISPR gene editing, cell sorting, and/or stable cell line generation.
  • Previous work with GPCRs and related cell signaling mechanisms.
  • Experience with cell-based assay development and high-throughput screening.
  • Proficient in operating liquid handling robots and in assay automation.
  • Experience with instrument maintenance and large-scale data management.
  • Demonstrated initiative and appropriate risk-taking with the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with excellent communication skills necessary to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Demonstrated flexible and adaptable approach to ensure project success.
