Company Overview:

Tree Guardians is a tree and plant health care services platform focused on partnering with owners and operators to build a multi-regional, residential, and commercial tree care business.

Position Overview:

The Senior Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing, administering, and improving employee benefits programs to ensure they meet employee needs, are cost-effective, and are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. This role acts as a key resource for employees, providing guidance and support related to benefits plans and processes, and serves as a liaison with vendors and insurance providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans (401k), wellness programs, and leaves of absence (FMLA, STD, LTD, etc.).
  • Partner with brokers and vendors to manage plan renewals, open enrollment, and ongoing plan design changes.
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process, including communications, system setup, employee meetings, and enrollment support.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing guidance and resolving complex issues.
  • Maintain and audit employee benefit records in HRIS systems; ensure data integrity and timely processing of enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Collaborate with Payroll to ensure accurate benefits deductions and related reporting.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA).
  • Reconcile monthly billing statements from insurance carriers; research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyze benefit program effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare and deliver benefits-related reports and metrics to HR leadership and Finance teams.
  • Support internal and external audits related to benefits.
  • Stay current on industry trends and legal changes affecting employee benefits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience administering employee benefits programs; experience at a senior or lead level strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits regulations (ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • CEBS certification or progress toward certification a plus.
