For one of our clients, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js/AWS/K8s) - Infra Engineering, remotely from anywhere in EMEA, including Ireland, Portugal, UK, or Brazil.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work at the intersection of DevOps and Engineering, ensuring Deel's platform runs smoothly and can scale efficiently. Your role involves creating and maintaining robust internal tools, implementing engineering best practices, and collaborating with teams to improve system performance. You will be involved in system design, handling high-load core services, and leading efforts to ensure Deel's infrastructure supports rapid business growth. The position requires strong Node.js skills, experience with cloud environments (AWS), Kubernetes, and Docker, as well as a proactive problem-solving mindset.

Accountabilities:

1. Develop and maintain high-performance backend systems, ensuring scalability and reliability.
2. Contribute to system design, architecture, and troubleshooting of complex issues.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance infrastructure capabilities and deliver high-quality product features.
4. Create and manage internal tooling (npm packages, frameworks) to improve engineering workflows.
5. Enforce engineering standards, best practices, and ensure efficient operations across the team.
6. Respond to and resolve production incidents when required, ensuring minimal disruption to service.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in engineering, with a focus on backend development.
• Proficient in Node.js and experienced in cloud environments like AWS.
• Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
• Familiarity with databases such as Postgres/MySQL and messaging systems like RabbitMQ/Nats/Kafka.
• Strong system design and problem-solving abilities, especially when faced with the unknown.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working across multiple teams.
• A troubleshooting mindset and the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
