Cognizant is hiring a Senior Backend Developer (Java/Spring) to design, build, secure, and maintain enterprise Java services and APIs for transfer agency and fixed income platforms. You will work with architects, QA, DevSecOps, and security to deliver reliable backend capabilities.

Role emphasizes secure authentication, high-volume processing, and compliance with FedRAMP High requirements, with a remote US-based work arrangement and strong collaboration across teams.

Formación

• Eight or more years of enterprise backend development experience.
• Strong expertise with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Security, OAuth2, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on with Oracle SQL, Hibernate, and stored procedures.
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub or Bitbucket, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Azure deployments.
• Proficiency with testing: unit and API testing.
• Familiarity with JasperReports, Quartz, SOAP, CXF, JMeter, Dynatrace, and Log4j, plus secure SDLC practices.

Responsabilidades

• Develop Java and Spring-based services supporting transfer registration, shareholder and account records, fixed income events, income and principal processing, corporate action workflows, reporting, and reconciliation support.
• Design and maintain REST APIs, service orchestration, batch and scheduled processing, database interactions, data validation, exception handling, and audit logging.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, input validation, secrets handling, encryption-aware integrations, and vulnerability remediation aligned with FedRAMP High expectations.
• Ensure transactional integrity, regulatory auditability, and resilient service design across high-volume processing workflows.
• Partner with architects, analysts, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver reliable, testable, and supportable backend capabilities.

Sr. Backend Developer (Java/Spring)

About the role

As a Senior Backend Developer (Java/Spring), you will make an impact by designing, building, securing, and maintaining enterprise Java services, APIs, integration components, reporting jobs, and database-backed business functionality for transfer agency and fixed income processing platforms. You will be a valued member of the Backend Engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, analysts, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams.

In this role, you will

• Develop Java and Spring-based services supporting transfer registration, shareholder and account records, fixed income events, income and principal processing, corporate action workflows, reporting, and reconciliation support.

What you need to have to be considered

• Eight or more years of enterprise backend development experience.

• Strong expertise with Java 17 or later, Spring Boot, Spring Security, OAuth2, and REST APIs.

• Proficiency with JasperReports, Quartz, SOAP, Apache CXF, JMeter, Dynatrace, Log4j, and secure SDLC practices.

These will help you stand out

• Experience with legacy Spring Framework.

• Background in high-volume transaction processing.

• Experience in financial services operations.

• Familiarity with transfer agency and fixed income processing platforms.

• Experience delivering in a FedRAMP High or comparable compliance environment.

Salary and Other Compensation

• The annual salary for this position is between $69,000 - $114,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

• This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
