Job summary

Horizontal Talent is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer to build scalable services powering marketplace shopping experiences. You will design and implement distributed systems supporting product discovery, catalog and hierarchy management, ranking, and fulfillment features.

Applicants should have extensive Java and Spring Boot expertise, strong knowledge of distributed systems, and a track record of delivering production-grade backend solutions in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• 10 to 15 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Deep understanding of system design and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Ability to independently design and deliver complex backend solutions.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
• Experience working in production environments with scalable systems.

Join a high-impact Marketplace Shopping team focused on building scalable backend services that shape the pre-purchase experience for customers. This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver distributed systems that support product discovery, catalog and hierarchy management, ranking, fulfillment options, and other core shopping capabilities.
