Job summary

Astyra Corporation in Richmond/Mechanicsville, VA is seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, governance and ongoing management of our enterprise Azure environment.

The ideal candidate has deep Azure, Terraform and IaC expertise, strong security and disaster recovery experience, and can mentor other engineers while coordinating across IT teams and management.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing, maintaining, monitoring resources in Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Terraform (highly-preferred) or other IaC methods (ARM, Bicep).
• Experience planning and executing migrations from on-premises to Azure.
• Experience working in mission-critical enterprise environments and implementing backup & DR strategies.
• Experience implementing networking and security policies in Azure.
• Experience using Azure Monitor for alerting, observability, and dashboards.
• Experience with vulnerability remediation & security initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide design, implementation, configuration and governance guidance for Azure resources, networking and security policies.
• Implement, maintain and monitor mission-critical cloud resources in a large enterprise environment.
• Manage and optimize enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations ensuring reliability and continuity.
• Plan, lead and execute cloud migration initiatives including moving workloads from on-premises to Azure.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, development and governance teams across IT.
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for production applications and infrastructure.
• Utilize Tenable to manage vulnerability remediation and improve security posture.
• Build meaningful observability solutions using Azure Monitor Workbooks and related tooling.
• Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery (DR) strategies to minimize downtime and protect data.
• Demonstrate strong networking knowledge including OSI model concepts and core protocols.

Description:

• Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to lead the implementation configuration governance and ongoing management of our enterprise Azure environment.
• This role is ideal for someone passionate about building and maintaining secure, resilient, and scalable cloud platforms and who is ready to set the standard for cloud excellence across the organization.
• We are looking for a senior-level engineer with deep expertise in Azures ecosystem proven enterprise-grade operational experience and the ability to provide technical leadership across teams and to management.
• What You’ll Bring: Extensive hands-on experience with Azure services Terraform, IaC cloud infrastructure design security best practices governance and operational management
• A strong sense of ownership - someone who embraces complex challenges and sees them through from design to delivery

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Experience implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and providing guidance on resources & infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, Required 10 Years
• Experience with Terraform (highly-preferred) or at a minimum, other IaC methods (ARM, Bicep, etc.), Required 7 Years
• Experience planning and executing migrations from on-premises envrionments to Azure, Required 10 Years
• Experience working in mission-critical enterprise environments and implementing backup & DR strategies, Required 10 Years
• Experience implementing networking and security policies in Azure, Required10Years
• Experience using Azure Monitor for alerting, observability, and dashboards, Required 10 Years
• Experience with vulnerability remediation & working on security initiatives, Required 10 Years

Preferred Qualifications/Nice-to-Haves:

• Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar
