Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own and optimize our Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. You will lead cloud infrastructure initiatives, drive automation, and ensure security, compliance, and availability for our aerospace and defense operations.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on with Azure, hybrid cloud, identity management, and networking, and will collaborate with IT teams to implement scalable solutions and governance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

Overview

Atlas is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own, maintain, and optimize our Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. This role serves as the technical lead for cloud infrastructure, ensuring the availability, security, performance, and scalability of enterprise systems that support our growing aerospace and defense operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on infrastructure professional with strong experience managing Azure cloud services, hybrid environments, Microsoft 365 technologies, identity management, networking, and security controls. This individual will drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring, governance, and continuous improvement while supporting compliance requirements within a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Administration

• Manage, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Azure resources, including virtual machines, networking, storage, backup, and platform services.
• Administer hybrid cloud environments integrated with on‑premises infrastructure.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of cloud‑based systems and services.
• Execute cloud capacity planning and resource management initiatives.

Microsoft 365 & Identity Management

• Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Intune, and related technologies.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID, including user provisioning, role management, Conditional Access Policies, MFA, and Single Sign‑On (SSO).
• Maintain secure identity and access management practices aligned with the principle of least privilege.

Cloud Security & Compliance

• Partner with cybersecurity teams to maintain a secure cloud environment.
• Support compliance with CMMC, NIST 800‑171, and other regulatory requirements.
• Review, investigate, and remediate security alerts and vulnerabilities across Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms.
• Assist with security audits, risk assessments, and implementation of corrective actions.

Monitoring, Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Configure and maintain monitoring, alerting, and reporting solutions using Azure Monitor and related tools.
• Manage backup, recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Conduct periodic disaster recovery testing and validation exercises.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents and performance issues.

Cloud Networking & Operations

• Administer cloud networking components including virtual networks, VPN connectivity, firewalls, and network security controls.
• Support hybrid connectivity between Azure and on‑premises systems.
• Monitor cloud spending and recommend cost optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business projects and infrastructure initiatives.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
• Improve operational efficiency through process standardization and automation.
• Contribute to infrastructure documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using Terraform, Bicep, or similar technologies.

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex cloud, infrastructure, and Microsoft 365 issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other IT team members.
• Participate in infrastructure planning, architecture discussions, and technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or cloud administration experience.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
• Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience managing hybrid cloud and on‑premises infrastructure.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, VPNs, firewalls, virtual networks, DNS, and related technologies.
• Experience with Azure Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
• Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and cloud‑related issues.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity management, and access controls.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Azure Bicep, or ARM Templates).
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Experience supporting regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government contracting.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of CMMC, NIST 800‑171, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and Microsoft Intune.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
