Salary:

VG Systems is seeking a Senior Microsoft Azure DevOps Architect (CI/CD Experience) to join a small team supporting one of our long-standing Federal Government customers. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in Azure DevOps and CI/CD processes, technologies and techniques, able to create compelling visions, roadmaps and solutions that win the support of customer leadership and foster belief and buy-in from the various project teams mandated with adopting the proposed changes. The Lead will have a strong desire to constantly learn and grow, maintaining their own knowledge of emerging Agile Development technologies and methodologies and finding feasible and practical ways to incorporate these new ideas into the culture.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Architect and enhance the organization-wide Agile development transformation initiative, including developing a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for adoption.
  • Design CI/CD solutions using Microsoft Azure DevOps to automate build, test, and deployment processes for applications and services.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize code integration and delivery workflows, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Develop CI/CD best practices, standards, and guidelines across the organization to ensure consistency and quality in software delivery.
  • Lead initiatives to continuously improve CI/CD processes, tools, and technologies to enhance developer productivity and accelerate time-to-market.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams on CI/CD best practices, automation techniques, and DevOps principles.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize cloud infrastructure and configuration management processes to support CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor, measure, and analyze CI/CD pipeline performance and reliability metrics, and implement optimizations and enhancements as needed.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in DevOps, cloud computing, and CI/CD practices, and evaluate their potential impact on our development processes.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience leading Azure DevOps implementations in large organizations, preferably in the government sector.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean, etc.) and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and technologies such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or YAML.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change.
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and best practices in Agile and organizational change management.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Azure DevOps for managing software development projects, including backlog management, sprint planning, and reporting.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills, with ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail and the ability to think critically and solve problems.

Experience & Certifications:

  • 10 years of experience working on IT software/application support and development as an engineer, developer, architect or technical lead.
  • 5 years of experience leading Azure DevOps implementations in large organizations, preferably in the government sector.
  • Experience leading transformations within the Microsoft Azure environment, utilizing Azure DevOps and incorporating CI/CD automation technologies, such as Selenium, SonarQube, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (or 4 additional years of professional experience). Master's degree is a plus.
  • Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft 365 certifications are a plus.
  • Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Associate (or higher) certification is a plus.
  • ScrumMaster (CSM/PSM) and/or SAFe Agilist (SA) certifications are a plus.

* Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance from the Federal Government.

* Customer location is in Washington, D.C. but only requires minimal on-site presence. Option for full remote if customer approves based on candidate.
