About the role

As a Sr. Azure Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, deploying, and optimizing cloud-native infrastructure for mission-critical applications. You will be a valued member of our Technology & Engineering team, collaborating with application developers, security professionals, and cross-functional teams to drive cloud adoption and deliver exceptional support experiences.

In this role, you will:

  • Architect, deploy, and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters and related Azure container services (ACI, ACR) for enterprise-scale applications.

  • Implement and optimize infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, Azure DevOps, and Helm for automated deployments and configuration management.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to AKS, SQL Server, networking, and application performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.

  • Apply Kubernetes best practices, including RBAC, resource quotas, taints/tolerations, labels, network policies, and security scanning of container images.

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration, monitoring, and proactive problem resolution using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, AppDynamics, and Log Analytics.

What you need to have to be considered
  • Proven experience deploying and managing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and related Azure container technologies (ACI, ACR).

  • Strong proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Helm, and Azure DevOps.

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server (DBMS, Analysis Services, Reporting Services) and troubleshooting database connectivity and performance issues in cloud environments.

  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes networking, storage, and security best practices.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

These will help you stand out
  • Experience supporting mission-critical, large-scale cloud environments for healthcare, government, or enterprise customers.

  • Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, AppDynamics, and Log Analytics.

  • Expertise in container security, including vulnerability scanning and remediation using tools like Aqua and Wiz.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of mentoring, knowledge sharing, and cross-team engagement.

  • Experience with additional Azure services (Virtual Machines, Networking, Machine Learning) and DevOps practices.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $107,000 - $125,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
