Barclays is seeking a Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer to design, deliver and secure scalable AWS solutions that empower business capabilities. You will drive cloud modernization, enable faster delivery and improve reliability across the organization.

The role focuses on enterprise-scale platforms, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to secure coding and testing practices as part of a high-impact engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Java & Spring development experience
  • Microservices architecture experience
  • AWS Cloud Services including MSK, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB
  • Kafka or Webhooks & events streaming

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer, you should have experience with:
  • Software development building enterprise-grade applications

  • Java & Spring frameworks, with solid experience inmicro-servicesarchitecture

  • AWS Cloud Services- MSK, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Networkingconcepts, Cloud Formation to design and deploy scalable applications

  • Messaging platforms and integrations - Kafka, Webhooks & events streaming

Some other highly valued skills may include:
  • Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) using tools/frameworks like CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, Telemetry or equivalent tools

  • AI enthusiast with an understanding of Agentic-AIfundamentals and frameworks

  • Exposure to the financial domain, particularly Core Processorssuch as TSYS, FDR, FIS

This role is located in Whippany, NJ.

Minimum Salary: $ 120,000

Maximum Salary: $ 175,000
