Job summary

Kinetik is seeking a seasoned Automation Technician to support daily operations across our Kentucky northern region, installing, programming, starting up and maintaining automation and process control equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair automation systems, read schematics, work with PLC programs, DCS, and instrumentation, and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams.

Must be able to travel to field facilities and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of automation experience required.
  • Able to read schematics and understand component functions.
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills for complex automation systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations through installation, programming, start-up and maintenance of automation and process control equipment.
  • Design, install, calibrate, preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair automation equipment to improve uptime and reduce costs.
  • Support plant activity including DCS, PLC, measurement facilities, gas systems and processing equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and IT groups.
  • Work with complex PLC programs and advanced process control systems; overtime as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Schedule: 5/2, 7/7, 14/14. Available for call-outs and overtime as needed based on business necessity

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily operations of the business unit through the installation, programming, start-up and maintenance of automation and process control equipment
  • Responsible for the design, specification, installation, programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation equipment in order to improve plant system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs
  • Support all types of plant activity including DCS, PLC, measurement facilities, natural gas collection systems, gas compressors, and gas plant processing equipment
  • Successful applicant will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Information Technology Groups
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail are required as a significant amount of time will be spent working with complex PLC programs and advanced process control systems
  • Will be subject to overtime and call-out work as needed
  • Other tasks may also be assigned to support operations as necessary
  • Understanding of pneumatic instrumentation: calibration and maintenance
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • 15 + years of related experience in Automation
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in automation systems
  • Excellent knowledge of automation host systems
  • Skillful in reading electronic schematics, identifying components, and understanding their functions
  • Able to read, program, install and troubleshoot complex PLC programs
  • Good computer skills

Working Conditions:

  • Will be working in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Will work outdoors in adverse or extreme weather conditions.
  • Will be required to frequently drive to other field facilities within their assigned region.
  • Available outside of normal working hours as needed for business necessity.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Ability to work effectively in all working conditions noted above.
  • Will require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 62 lbs. in a safe manner on an occasional basis
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver's license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
