Comfort Systems USA, Inc. in Houston seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to lead and implement advanced industrial automation projects from concept to commissioning.
You will design, program, test, and start up automated systems, improve reliability, and mentor cross-functional teams including operations and maintenance. The role requires strong PLC/SCADA experience, instrumentation knowledge, and a track record of delivering projects with safety and quality as a priority.
The Senior Automation Engineer will oversee the automation projects, designing, planning and implementing advanced industrial automation and control systems. This role will lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, improve the reliability and efficiency of existing systems, and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and cross-functional partners. Peer relationships include Production, Operations Project Management, Design Engineering, Planning, Maintenance, Quality Control and Facilitates departments. The ideal candidate has strong experience with PLCs, FSUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial networks, instrumentation, and process controls in a manufacturing or production environment.

Identifying and correcting conditions that affect employee safety, upholding safety standards. Setting high standards of performance for self and others; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed. Must be versed in the use of basic Microsoft office tools Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project. Welding and NDE experience and training.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
