Join the American Red Cross. This position is temporary and fully remote, eligible for work in specified states. The assignment is for 6 months. No benefits are offered.

What you need to know (Job Overview)

This position serves as a member of the Community Preparedness and Resilience Services program planning and implementation team. Provides management and oversight of preparedness programs ensuring that implementation and defined activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. Provides planning, design, implementation, and innovation support to the assigned program area and team portfolio. Analyzes program activity and identifies areas for improvement. Develops solutions to complex challenges, often with short deadlines and large financial impacts. Applies extensive technical expertise. Work is performed with minimal direction and exercises considerable latitude. Functions in a project leadership role, coordinating with senior internal and external stakeholders. May work with internal and external contacts to develop program strategies and proposal initiatives. Provides support, development and leadership guidance to all volunteers. Performs duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations.

What youNeed to Succeed (Key Responsibilities)
  • Manages and supports program supply resourcing by developing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external partners, including vendors, supply chain management, finance, enterprise warehouse team, and Red Cross regional teams.
  • Directs and coordinates activities related to implementing and carrying out program objectives. May be responsible for planning, execution and evaluation of a specific project or program.
  • Collects and analyzes data, identifies needs and improvements, develops recommendations for program and procedure improvements. Develops reports on project status and issues for management review. Supports monitoring of inventory valued up to $8 Million.
  • Supports Program Manager by co-leading national relationships and independently leading critical areas of work. May work with internal departments and external government and/or non-government agencies in developing program strategies and proposal initiatives as required.
  • Supports logistics for just-in-time and large-scale orders of smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and other preparedness materials.
  • Provides ongoing guidance to regions and acts as a key point of contact for program leads, Region Disaster Officers, Division Points of Contact, and Division Disaster Executives as needed.
  • Liaises with Disaster Cycle Services operations and program development counterparts to facilitate inter-departmental cooperation, data sharing, and major event planning.
  • Supports preparedness briefings and workforce trainings with set-up, production and post-production video and collateral; develops slides for briefings and staffs other presentations as requested.
  • Executes other duties as required.
What you need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Education: Bachelor\'s degree required; Master\'s degree preferred. Studies in international relations, public health, social sciences, or management, or related fields desired.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of program management; ability to create presentations and develop training modules; strong communication and data analysis skills; proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook); ability to work independently and in a team; strong integrity and adaptability; travel may be required (one or two times a year to support relief operations; additional travel a few times a year for meetings and program support).
  • Travel: Possible travel one or two times a year; additional travel a few times a year as needed.
