Capital One in McLean, VA is seeking a Sr. Associate, Communications to plan and execute internal campaigns for critical moments, using storytelling across intranet, newsletters, Slack and events to inform and engage more than 30,000 associates.

In this role, you will plan and execute associate-facing campaigns for some of our most critical “moments that matter” throughout the year. Taking an editorial approach, you’ll leverage our multi-channel ecosystem—including intranet, newsletters, Slack, and events—to inform, inspire and engage associates across the organization. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation abilities and editorial judgment to distill complex strategy into clear, engaging content
Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to build communication plans and align cross-functional partners across a complex, matrixed organization
Proven track record of managing end-to-end projects with urgency, meeting tight deadlines, and delivering high-quality work on time and within budget
Ability to navigate fast-paced environments with adaptability, sound judgment, and composure under pressure
Strong stakeholder-orientation with a history of building trusted, collaborative working relationships
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 2 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or newsroom/journalism settings
BA in Communications, Journalism, English, or Marketing
At least 3 years of experience as a communications specialist
At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing experience role or financial services
Proven track record of managing digital communication channels and email newsletter tools
Background in newsroom/journalistic writing
Exceptional project management and stakeholder influencing skills
Experience using data and engagement analytics to adjust communication strategies

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $88,800 - $101,300 for Sr. Communications Associate
Richmond, VA: $80,800 - $92,200 for Sr. Communications Associate
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
