Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation is seeking an Assembler II in Springtown, TX to safely assemble equipment on an assembly line. You will work with a range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components, following supervisor instructions and using a variety of tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts, wires, hoses, and hydraulics onto JLG/Jerr Dan products using proper tools.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components; read diagrams and perform repairs as needed.
  • Train and assist new team members; operate electronic devices (EQC, MDS, JED, AS400).
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment following 6S and safety procedures.
  • Identify and correct defects; ensure machine configuration matches sales orders.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assembler II is responsible for safely assembling equipment by following detailed instructions from Supervisors and Group Leaders. These assemblies vary in size and product while requiring the use of a variety of mechanical, electrical, and manual tools. As an Assembler II, this role has the job knowledge and skills to work in every station proficiently on an assembly line with the ability to troubleshoot various components of a machine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assemble parts, wires, hoses, and hydraulics onto JLG/ Jerr Dan products utilizing safe and proper tools and techniques. Install various JLG/Jerr Dan product accessories (decals, mud flaps, cameras, lights) including sales changes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components along with the ability to read all electrical and hydraulic diagrams. Demonstrate the ability to make repairs identified during the troubleshooting process.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively work across all work stations in assigned job function. Assist training new team members on processes and equipment functions. Demonstrate ability to use and train on all electronic devices including: EQC, MDS, JED, AS400.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and proper 6S standards. Demonstrate best practices to follow all safe procedures in assembling and testing of all models/products in assigned job function.
  • Assist in driving back defects to the point of origin along with identifying and assisting in implementation of corrective action(s). Validate machine(s) configuration is aligned to sales order. Demonstrate ability to properly complete EQC process.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate all units produced in assigned job function.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge & ability to use special equipment required to complete models produced in assigned job function, including but not limited to all torque tools, DC tools, brake bleeders, AC chargers, and cab testers.
  • Proficient in setting/programming of all product units within assigned job function using items such as, but not limited to: JLG Analyzer for machine configuration/troubleshooting, pressure setting of hydraulic systems, and laptop use for downloading software upgrades.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in Manufacturing or General Labor.
  • Ability to travel 5%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to drive and test machines OR conduct offline inspection on all machine in assigned facility.

Non-Physical Demands: Frequent Analysis/Reasoning, Communication/Interpretation, Reading; Occasional Sustained Mental Activity (i.e., auditing, problem solving, grant writing, composing reports, etc.), Writing; Seldom Math/Mental Computation.

Environmental Demands: Frequent Work Alone, Task Changes, Dust, Temperature Extremes, Loud Noises. Occasional Tedious/Exacting Work; Seldom High Volume Public Contact, Physical Danger, Toxic Substances (i.e., solvents, pesticides, etc.).

Work Schedule: Considerable irregularity of hours due to frequent overtime, weekend or shift rotation.

Demands/Deadlines: Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload because of intermittent or cyclical work pressures, or occasional exposure to distressed individuals within the immediate work environment.
