Job description

Project Kuiper is Amazon's initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit communications satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities around the earth.

The Kuiper Engineering team is seeking a detail-oriented, results-driven, customer-centric Sr. ASIC New Product Planner with experience in pre-production development and manufacturing of semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) chips for digital and analog ASICs and SOCs. ASICs are the foundation of Kuiper's innovative aerospace and terrestrial networking infrastructure equipment and data services. The Sr. ASIC new product planner is a key design engineering team member responsible for managing all aspects of Kuiper's ASIC engineering sample work-order definition, execution, and downstream logistical supply fulfillment—from initial design release through qualification into mass production transfer—aimed at accelerating time-to-market and impacting customers globally.

The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of all phases of the end-to-end semiconductor IC product lifecycle, development methodologies, and manufacturing flows/dependencies/cycle-times from post-GDSII tape-out through wafer foundry, package substrate fabrication, into OSAT contract manufacturing applying module technologies such as FCBGAs, CSP, WLP, QNFs, SIPs. They combine a hands-on background in sample supply/demand operations planning with experience executing technical interdependencies of NPI engineering builds, including DFM rule checks, inline process monitors yield data review, material lot release, configuration management lot controls, assembly build instructions, and wafer probe/final class test route and binning. The successful candidate will lead alignment between external vendor engineering and internal teams in complex build and delivery logistics, identify and mitigate schedule risks, ensure quality adherence, and provide status reports and project health metrics. You are proactive, owner-mentality, comfortable operating independently, passionate about semiconductors, NPI, and Kuiper's societal impact. You are excited to solve challenging problems and contribute to launching space-craft and user terminal networks that meet performance, quality, and availability objectives.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Collect, consolidate, and prioritize internal silicon engineering design and validation customer demand requirements to facilitate bring-up, DVT, qualification, characterization, and downstream PCBA factory integration.
  2. Convert demand requirements into supply build plans considering line capacity, yield loss, and test time constraints.
  3. Communicate build plans to third-party vendors, oversee execution, and ensure on-time delivery to meet customer demand and inventory targets.
  4. Prepare product engineering build plans and assembly instructions in PLM Configuration Management, including SKU naming, revision control, and part/label schema.
  5. Coordinate and manage transportation logistics and export trade compliance across the international semiconductor supply chain.
  6. Drive wafer lot plans, start schedules, package and test lot plans, raw material orders, and manage deployment of chip supply to customers.
  7. Maintain end-to-end traceability records for wafer fab to assembly/test lot for sample supply chain management.

Export Control Requirement: Candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees due to export control laws.
