Position Summary
We are seeking a highly capable and self-directed Senior Applications Engineer to support our chemical feed systems business in municipal water and wastewater treatment. You will design complete chemical feed systems, develop detailed engineering deliverables, and work closely with the sales team to provide high-quality upfront engineering support that helps win projects. Your technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and ability to deliver accurate calculations, drawings, and specifications quickly will be a key part of what we sell to consulting engineers and end customers. This is demanding, fast-paced work involving multiple concurrent projects. The ideal candidate can hit the ground running, juggle priorities effectively, and thrive in a role where engineering excellence directly drives revenue and customer success.
Key Duties And Essential Functions
- Design complete chemical feed systems (truck unloading stations through storage, metering, piping, valving, and application points) for municipal water and wastewater applications.
- Develop skid-mounted assemblies and fabrication packages using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- Produce P&IDs, process drawings, equipment specifications, calculations, and other engineering deliverables.
- Work closely with the sales team to provide timely upfront engineering support, technical proposals, calculations, drawings, and specifications needed to win projects.
- Write clear, professional technical specifications and submittals for consulting engineers and project bids.
- Select equipment, components, and instrumentation based on process requirements, water chemistry, compatibility, and performance goals.
- Specify instrumentation (signals, loops, analytical devices) and integration approaches for SCADA/PLC control systems.
- Apply water chemistry knowledge and process control principles to ensure systems achieve desired outcomes.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a dynamic, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Support internal fabrication and systems integration with clear, buildable engineering packages.
- Serve as a technical resource to both internal sales and external consulting engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor\’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5–10+ years designing or supporting chemical feed, chemical dosing, or process systems (municipal water/wastewater experience strongly preferred).
- Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D skid modeling) and/or AutoCAD (drawings & P&IDs).
- Solid understanding of instrumentation, control signals, and SCADA/PLC integration.
- Working knowledge of water/wastewater chemistry and chemical handling best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engineering support under time pressure for sales opportunities.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills (specs, calculations, submittals).
- Excellent multitasking and project management skills in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting sales efforts or working with manufacturer’s representatives / consulting engineers in the water industry.
- Familiarity with common treatment chemicals and municipal project workflows.
- Experience with control strategies and process outcomes for chemical feed applications.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or willingness to pursue.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
