Position Summary

This is a critical role within the sales process. The Application Engineer’s ability to manage a challenging workload while creatively finding solutions to complex Requests for Quotation (RFQs) is critical for success. This position offers a high degree of interaction with outside sales, engineers and distributors, key accounts and end users to gain information to provide recommendations and proposals. The right candidate for this role is someone who can work independently, providing accurate, high quality work that is time bound.

Position Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Address technical questions from consulting engineers, distributors/reps, and end users regarding product applications, system design, pricing and troubleshooting.
  • Review consulting engineers’ drawings and specifications and develop quotations for competitive bids.
  • Answer design questions and prepare proposals on Engineered (Specialty) products.
  • Assume ownership of quotes for follow-up with Sales and to ensure customer requirements for proposal are met including deadlines as outlined by Sales.
  • Work with Sales to determine proposal strategies for projects.
  • Review and summarize incoming system orders to allow for prompt attention by Project Management.
  • Participate in Kickoff meetings and subsequent meetings to ensure PM’s know what was sold.
  • Properly organize proposal documents for each project.
  • Evaluate third party equipment and its applicable use with engineered systems. Gather accurate quotes with timelines to ensure smooth transition when PO arrives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Minimum of five years related Application Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience in water treatment, chemical process, food and beverage, disinfection equipment, oil and gas a plus.
  • Education: Four-year technical degree; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Detail-oriented person.
  • Ability to work independently, bring forth new innovations, think through problems and provide proactive solutions.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to analyze mechanical and electro/mechanical systems and to work with schematic drawings.
  • Strong personal skills due to interaction with sales , customers and engineers daily
  • Comfortable in Excel, Word and SAP.

Preferred:

  • A strong understanding of the Municipal and Industrial water treatment market, and the design/application of polymer products, dry feed, and specialty chemical product feed systems.
