Job summary

Atmos Energy is seeking an experienced GIS software professional to design, develop, test, and support Esri GIS solutions. You will work with ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, plus Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, and SQL-driven data services to deliver scalable GIS applications.

You will collaborate with business partners to define requirements, create documentation, mentor teammates, and ensure SLA performance while advancing enterprise GIS infrastructure and reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of software programming experience.
• Experience designing, developing and supporting Esri GIS solutions.
• Strong experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online environments.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, and GIS app development.
• Experience in enterprise GIS infrastructure and web services.
• Knowledge of spatial databases and SQL development.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex GIS issues.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Experience using Jira and Git in GIS software development.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development and testing of software applications; resolve incidents to maintain service integrity.
• Consume, transform and update data between systems using integration software.
• Consult with business partners to identify software needs and propose designs.
• Create documentation on program definitions, requirements and end users specifications.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Experience/education

• Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 4 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting Esri GIS solutions.
• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online environments.
• Strong experience with Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, and GIS application development.
• Experience supporting enterprise GIS infrastructure and web services.
• Knowledge of spatial databases and SQL development.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex GIS application and infrastructure issues.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Experience in using Jira and GIT in GIS software development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of utility sector GIS implementations.
• Experience with mobile GIS technologies, field workforce solutions, and real-time GIS capabilities.

Primary Duties

• Assists in the design and development and testing of software applications. Resolves day-to-day incidents to assure the integrity of the services being provided.
• Consume, transform and update data between two or more systems using Integration software.
• Consults with business partner to identify and define software applications needs. Analyzes requests for changes, updates or modifications to new or existing software applications and makes recommendations for designs to meet client specifications.
• Consults with business partners to create documentation relating to the program definition, development, business requirements. Documentation includes software objectives, deliverables, and end user specifications.
• Assists, mentors, and provides technical direction, leadership, guidance and support for Applications Developers and other IT staff, helps in smooth maintenance of the system and meet SLA’s to provide data to the users.
• Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications according to specifications and end user requirements.
• Prepares system, context and infrastructure diagrams needed in application development and analysis.
• Trains end users to operate new or modified programs, reporting tools and analytics.
• Prepares and writes reports for management and/or team members on the status of assignments.
• Works with end users regarding systems analysis, general systems design and detail systems design.
• Works independently to keeps abreast of new and changing technological advances in program languages, utilities, tools, and client/server technology to assure achievement of optimum results.
• Follow the IT procedures and naming conventions guidance. Also provide proper documentation as required by IT standards

Minimum Requirements & Skills

Educational/Experience Level

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, Business or a closely related field and four years of experience in software programming.

Communication Skills

Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external business partners at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature.

Numeric Skills

Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.

Computer Skills

Requires a very high level of computer skills in order to use various software packages as well as a familiarity with hardware configuration. Need to be proficient in MS Office Tools.

Work Conditions

Works in an office environment. Position could be subject to work outside of normal business hours. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
