MANN+HUMMEL in Goleta, CA seeks a Sr. Applications Engineer to partner with customers and sales teams, guiding projects from design to after-sales service while aligning with company goals.

You will manage projects, run UF/RO/NF simulations, analyze competitors, engage directly with customers, train staff, and collaborate with R&D to drive product improvements. Travel ~30% across the Americas.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in plant operation, construction, engineering services, and/or membrane technology.
• Technical field experience required.

Role Summary

The Sr. Applications Engineer partners closely with customers and sales teams, providing support throughout every project phase, from initial design to after-sales service, while ensuring customer needs are met and aligned with MANN+HUMMEL’s goals.

Main Tasks

• Manage customer projects, including design, construction, installation, commissioning, pilot trial and operation.
• Perform technical projections and performance simulations using Ultrafiltration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Nanofiltration (NF) software to evaluate product capabilities, optimize system designs, and recommend appropriate solutions for customer applications.
• Analyze competitor products, technologies, and performance specifications to identify opportunities to position, adapt, and optimize MANN+HUMMEL solutions to meet or exceed competitive offerings.
• Dedicate time to direct customer engagement, gathering technical requirements, understanding application needs, communicating product capabilities, and providing recommendations aligned with customer expectations.
• Provide technical support to sales
• Deliver customer training & webinars on product design, operation, and maintenance.
• Lead, manage track, and document high value projects.
• Review and prepare technical documents, including warranty and service agreements.
• Plan and participate in field assignments.
• Coordinate, support, and train external service providers.
• Train internal teams, including service technicians, engineers, and technical sales staff.
• Design, create, and optimize cross-departmental processes.
• Create product-specific materials such as case studies, data sheet, analyses, and presentations.
• Prepare and present technical papers, case studies, and product performance findings at industry conferences, customer meetings, and other technical forums to demonstrate product capabilities and industry expertise.
• Collaborate with R&D to translate customer feedback, market trends, and competitive insights into actionable recommendations for product enhancements, performance improvements, and future product development

Your Profile

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years experience in plant operation, construction, engineering services, and/or membrane technology.
• Technical field experience required.

Skills

• Knowledge of Process membrane technology and water/wastewater systems.
• Strong project management capabilities.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD or similar software a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with initiative and responsibility.
• Travel - Approximately 30% travel within North and South America, with flexibility for short-notice trips.
